Gemini Notebook adds a free textbook catalog beside purchased ebooks
Students can browse hundreds of included textbooks; purchased‑book access remains a separate path.
Browse the catalog
Google’s [October 29 announcement](https://blog.google/innovation‑and‑ai/products/gemini‑notebook/new‑access‑textbooks/) says hundreds of textbooks are available at no charge. In a notebook, Add sources → Textbooks opens the catalog. Named providers include OpenStax, Open Textbook Library and S Chand Publishing.
Purchased books differ
The [earlier program](https://blog.google/innovation‑and‑ai/products/gemini‑notebook/expert‑intelligence‑leading‑sources/) covered select ebooks bought through Google Play Books, with collaborators needing their own copy. The catalog expansion does not make every purchased book free.
Original access map: the new textbook catalog is free; the earlier selected‑ebook program required purchases, including each collaborator’s own copy.
