Notion’s AI-credit transition reaches existing Business and Enterprise workspaces November 2

Existing Business and Enterprise workspaces move to Notion’s new AI‑credit system November 2. The included Standard and Select balances stay separate, with admin‑controlled continuation and a later Meeting Notes phase.

Existing workspaces move on November 2

Notion’s October 19 announcement introduces a new AI‑credit system for Business and Enterprise plans. Its current help page says new workspaces began moving to that system on October 19, while existing workspaces transition on November 2, 2026.

The stated monthly defaults are 1,500 Standard credits and 500 Select credits per member. The help page qualifies those amounts: an included allowance may vary with the plan and purchase arrangement. Members can check their actual allowance and reset date in Settings → Notion AI → Usage. The transition date alone does not establish every contract’s entitlement.

Standard, Select and Notion credits cover different work

According to the [credit guide](https://www.notion.com/help/manage‑your‑ai‑credits), Standard credits cover work where Notion chooses the model, including Notion Agent on Auto, writing and translation, AI blocks, formulas and inline editing. Select credits cover choosing a model yourself and Custom Agents that are not funded by the workspace. A Custom Agent uses its creator’s Select credits even when shared with a team. The guide says it can then use extra credits assigned by an admin, followed by workspace Notion credits if allowed. An admin can instead fund an agent with Notion credits. That workspace‑managed balance is separate from the included per‑member allowances and can cover eligible additional usage and high‑credit‑consumption models not included in a plan. The guide also distinguishes ordinary connected‑app or Notion API use from agent execution: everyday connected apps and API calls do not consume these credits, although normal rate limits apply; running an agent through an app or API uses Notion credits.

The included balances cannot be pooled or exchanged

Standard and Select are [separate per‑member balances](https://www.notion.com/help/manage‑your‑ai‑credits). Using one does not consume the other. They cannot be combined, moved between members or exchanged for another credit type. Each resets monthly at the start of the billing cycle, and unused credits do not roll over. If Standard credits run out, affected Standard features pause until reset unless permitted continuation is available. Remaining Select credits do not cover those features. If Select credits run out but Standard credits remain, a member can switch Notion Agent to Auto for work covered by Standard. This preserves the distinction between choosing a model and letting Notion choose it.

Continuation beyond the allowance is an admin‑controlled option

The help page says continuation with workspace Notion credits is off by default. Owners and admins can enable Allow workspace to use Notion credits after AI limit is reached in Settings → Notion AI. The setting covers both Standard and Select. When enabled, members reaching an included limit see an option to continue with eligible workspace credits; when disabled, they wait for the reset. Available workspace credits and the admin’s permission remain necessary.

The guide directs admins to Settings → Access & billing → Notion credits to track that balance’s usage. Notion’s announcement describes a broader AI Command Center as coming soon, so it should not be confused with the existing settings and dashboard documented in the help page.

AI Meeting Notes has a separate December phase

The current guide says AI Meeting Notes uses Auto and begins consuming the monthly Standard allowance on December 1, 2026. That is a separate phase from the November 2 transition for existing Business and Enterprise workspaces. The guide may change its feature eligibility and usage rules; its captured policy does not establish a fixed credit cost for every task.
