ON1 puts AI culling in MAX; photographers make the final cut
The November 2 release separates grouping and warning flags from the decision to keep or drop a photo.
What the assistant sorts
ON1’s [November 2 release](https://www.on1.com/press/on1‑releases‑photo‑raw‑2027/) places the Photo RAW 2027 AI Culling Assistant in MAX. It groups similar photos and flags closed eyes or out‑of‑focus subjects. The photographer makes the final keep‑or‑drop decision.
Edition and decision are separate checks
Treat the grouping and flags as a way to organize review, rather than instructions to delete a frame. Having an AI‑assisted editor also does not mean having this culling feature: [ON1 says](https://www.on1.com/press/on1‑releases‑photo‑raw‑2027/) Perfect Eraser is available in every edition without AI, whereas culling requires MAX. The same release lists cloud‑powered generative tools in MAX, so it does not establish an entirely offline workflow.
