Shopify moves Knowledge base into admin, with different rules for migrated facts
Shopify’s October 26 update brings merchant facts for AI agents into admin. New storefront‑derived drafts need publication, while some migrated facts are already live; the standalone app ends after January 15, 2027.
Merchant facts move into Shopify admin
Shopify’s October 26 changelog moves Knowledge base into Sales channels → Agentic → Knowledge base in the admin. It replaces the standalone Knowledge Base app, which Shopify says will no longer be available after January 15, 2027.
The page lets merchants review, edit and publish facts supplied to AI agents about their store, including contact details and gift services. Shopify creates drafts from the store’s published storefront pages, and each fact links to its source page. Those newly drafted facts remain unpublished until the merchant publishes them. That publication step is distinct from the migration of facts already written or edited in the old app.
Migrated facts can already be published
For stores with fewer than 1,000 facts, Shopify says the facts merchants wrote or edited have moved over and were published, allowing agents to continue using them. Merchants can unpublish an individual fact; Shopify says no action is required for this documented group. The notice does not say that every automatically generated fact in the old app was carried over.
For stores with more than 1,000 facts, the release says their facts have not moved. Shopify describes the new capacity as up to 1,000 additional facts, and says these stores need to add the ones they want to retain before January 15, 2027. It says it has emailed the affected stores directly. That wording does not establish a 1,000‑fact ceiling for every kind of information in the system.
The release leaves one threshold unstated
