Descript vs NaturalReader

 DescriptDescriptNaturalReaderNaturalReader
DescriptionDescript links a transcript to audio and video so deleting or moving text changes the media. It supports imported recordings, multitrack transcription, captions, AI cleanup and timeline export. Hobbyist is listed at $24 per person per month with 10 media hours and 1080p watermark-free export; Creator is $35 with 30 hours and 4K. Annual billing displays lower monthly equivalents. AI credits are separate from media allowances.NaturalReader turns written material into spoken audio in a web reader, mobile apps and a Chrome extension. Use the Personal product to listen to documents, webpages, PDFs and ebooks or to hear a draft read back. NaturalReader Commercial is a separate AI Voice Generator for producing narration that can be shared or redistributed. Choosing between those products is the first step: the EULA excludes commercial use, public use and redistribution from the Personal products, even on paid plans. The Personal Free plan includes unlimited Free Voices, 20,000 Lite characters per day and 4,000 shared Plus and Cloned characters per day. Free Voices depend on the device, operating system and browser. Free users cannot convert text to MP3 or use OCR. These are separate listening allowances, so a daily character count should not be treated as a downloadable audio allowance. Personal Lite costs $13.90 per month or $79 per year, Plus costs $20.90 or $119 per year, and Pro costs $25.90 or $159 per year. Lite adds unlimited Lite listening. Plus allows 500,000 shared Plus and Cloned characters per day; Pro shares that daily allowance across Plus, Cloned and Pro voices. Paid MP3 conversion has separate monthly limits, and Free Voices cannot be converted even on paid plans. Paid features include OCR, pronunciation controls and access across the web reader, mobile apps and Chrome extension. For a school group, Plus EDU starts at five users for $299 per year, while Lite EDU starts at 50 users for $599 per year. EDU remains a personal-use audio license. It does not replace Commercial when you intend to publish generated narration or distribute it to learners. Commercial Starter costs $29 per user per month with 500,000 monthly credits. Creator costs $49 with two million credits. Team costs $33 per user per month, requires at least two users and provides two million shared credits per user. Annual billing has different totals. Credits are consumed according to the selected voice or model, and the free sampler allows up to 10,000 characters per day rather than free production exports. The Commercial app supports MP3 and WAV downloads and does not include Personal app access. Start with a representative paragraph containing your real names, numbers and terminology. Check pronunciation, pauses and pacing before processing a longer document. For distributed work, select Commercial and confirm the voice, credit cost and permissions. Compare Speechify for an alternative document-listening workflow or TTSReader for a browser reader with separate business and publishing terms.
