SAP phases in Joule tools with Enterprise AI Gateway planned for 2027

SAP’s TechEd guide separates phased Joule rollouts from planned Enterprise AI Gateway, offline‑evaluation and n8n releases, with different access and timing limits for each.

Joule’s rollout has begun in phases

SAP’s [October 27 TechEd announcements](https://news.sap.com/2026/10/sap‑teched‑ai‑developers‑build‑what‑matters‑autonomous‑execution/) extend Joule Work, Joule Studio and the controls around enterprise agents. The accompanying [innovation guide](https://www.sap.com/topics/events/teched/innovation‑news‑guide‑2026) says general availability of Joule Work and Joule Studio is underway in a phased approach. Other capabilities have later planned dates, including the SAP Enterprise AI Gateway and broader n8n workflow support. For a team assessing what it can deploy, the feature‑level status matters. A phased rollout does not confirm that every tenant already has access, and a planned general‑availability window is not an activation date for an individual customer. The guide describes Joule Work as the user experience for expressing goals and coordinating agents, applications and data, with Joule Studio providing tools for building and extending agents.

SAP’s stated availability, by capability

This table separates current phased rollouts from the calendar windows SAP publishes for later capabilities. It summarizes the [October 27 guide](https://www.sap.com/topics/events/teched/innovation‑news‑guide‑2026) and [press release](https://news.sap.com/2026/10/sap‑teched‑ai‑developers‑build‑what‑matters‑autonomous‑execution/); the planned windows remain forward‑looking. | Capability | SAP‑stated availability | | --- | --- | | Joule Work and Joule Studio | Phased general availability is underway. ([Guide](https://www.sap.com/topics/events/teched/innovation‑news‑guide‑2026)) | | Agent gateway, pre‑deployment sandbox and Joule Studio runtime | Phased general availability is underway for each of these capabilities. ([Guide](https://www.sap.com/topics/events/teched/innovation‑news‑guide‑2026)) | | SAP Enterprise AI Gateway | General availability is planned for Q1 2027. ([Guide](https://www.sap.com/topics/events/teched/innovation‑news‑guide‑2026)) | | Offline agent evaluations | General availability is planned for late Q4 2026. ([Guide](https://www.sap.com/topics/events/teched/innovation‑news‑guide‑2026)) | | Designing and running n8n workflows in Joule Studio | General availability is planned for Q1 2027; SAP separately describes access through its early‑adopter program. ([Guide](https://www.sap.com/topics/events/teched/innovation‑news‑guide‑2026); [Release](https://news.sap.com/2026/10/sap‑teched‑ai‑developers‑build‑what‑matters‑autonomous‑execution/)) | Tenant‑specific activation, region coverage and exact dates within the planned quarters are not established by these announcements. The early‑adopter n8n access described in the release should therefore be read separately from the guide’s planned general‑availability date.

The agent gateway and Enterprise AI Gateway have different jobs

The guide’s agent‑gateway update concerns third‑party agents invoking Joule Agents through a governed entry point with access control. SAP places that enhancement in the phased rollout now underway.

The SAP Enterprise AI Gateway is a separately named solution planned for Q1 2027. SAP describes it as a centralized layer for AI traffic across the enterprise, consolidating authentication, policy enforcement, routing, monitoring, usage tracking and auditing. Its scope includes interactions involving MCP servers, APIs, agent‑to‑agent connections and language models. The similar names do not make the future enterprise‑wide gateway part of the currently described agent‑gateway rollout.

Testing tools and the runtime promotion need their own checks

SAP says the pre‑deployment sandbox lets teams run test queries, inspect traces and use generated unit tests before production; its general availability is phased. Offline agent evaluations are a later capability, planned for late Q4 2026. The guide also places Joule Studio runtime deployment and added runtime‑governance capabilities in phased availability. These are SAP’s descriptions of tools and controls, not an independently verified guarantee of agent safety or organizational compliance.

The press release separately announces a time‑bound promotion for select customers, with deploying and running custom agents on the SAP‑managed Joule Studio runtime remaining free through December 2026. Design‑time tooling is described as free under fair‑use limits. That does not establish unlimited runtime access for every customer or pricing after the promotion. OpenTools has not tested an individual tenant’s entitlements or deployment.
