Google brings Guided Learning to Classroom; Search pilot comes later

Teacher assignments are available now; K–12 account‑control changes remain prospective.

Two availability clocks

[Google’s November 3 post](https://blog.google/products‑and‑platforms/products/education/ai‑learning‑era‑updates‑2026/) says Guided Learning is globally available in Classroom. Teachers assign activities anchored in class material; students receive one‑to‑one study help and teachers receive progress insights. Search follows a different clock: select U.S. schools begin a pilot later in November. That is not a general school Search rollout.

Controls come later

[Google says](https://blog.google/products‑and‑platforms/products/education/ai‑learning‑era‑updates‑2026/) access to Gemini, Gemini Notebook, Gemini in Classroom and Search will be off for K–12 student accounts until administrators explicitly enable it. Schools will receive specifics in the coming months before rollout. Administrators should separate today’s assignment feature from those forthcoming account settings; the announcement does not establish that the new defaults are already active.
